Charles Dickens is brought vividly to life in this one-man double-bill by Doc Watson on the 200th annivesary of Dickens's birth. 'The Pickwick Papers', a selection Dickens's first novel, brilliantly satirises life in Bath: Mr Pickwick takes the waters. Sam Weller, his faithful servant declares them to have 'a very strong flavour o'warm flat irons' and Mr Dowler and Mr Winkle get involved in a hilarious chase around Royal Crescent.'The Signal-man' is Dickens's famous ghost story of a haunted signal-man and the sounds and sights that trouble him at his lonely signal box.
