The Guernsey Literary Festival commemorates Dickens

The Guernsey Literary Festival will be hosting an elegant dinner at the OGH Hotel on Friday 14 September to celebrate Dickens’s 200th birthday this year. The evening will start with a champagne reception then a three-course dinner and will feature two entertaining and informative speakers: Lucinda Dickens Hawksley, the author’s great-great-great granddaughter, as well as the highly regarded recreationalist Mark Wallis. Lucinda is a Patron of the Charles Dickens Museum, as well as being an acclaimed author, art historian and travel writer. Mark is the director of Past Pleasures, the largest and most experienced historical live interpretation events company in Britain. There will also be live musical entertainment, a raffle, the auction of an original Charles Dickens first edition novel and an exhibition of first edition Dickens novels organised by the Priaulx Library. Dress code is optional black tie or, for the more adventurous, classic Victorian dress or that of any Dickens character.
